Highland Games in Scotland are very popular with tourists from UK and  indeed all  over the world.Stonehaven has been hosting Highland Games at Mineralwell Park for many years.Unfortunately, like many other events, in 2011, bad weather caused the cancellation and operational difficulties prevented the Games going ahead in 2012.A new committee, chaired by Roger Barnett jun had ambitious plans for 2014, with a 2 day event planned at the larger venue of Mackie Academy Playing Fields.This proved to be a great success.

Unfortunately in 2015 bad weather again prevented the Highland Games taken place but a very successful event was held in 2016

The 2017 event took place on Sunday 16th July with a Kids Mini Games from 2 – 4pm on Saturday 15th July. In 2018, the Kids Mini Games were part of the main Highland Games on Sunday 15th July.

The 2020 Games will be held on Sunday 19th July 11am to 5pm at Mackie Academy.

The Scottish Highland Games Association (SHGA) is the governing body of Traditional Highland Games in Scotland. It represents over 60 Highland Games in Scotland with several associate members overseas.
